Feb 28th 1-2-3: Nature Heals
1: Nature Heals ( 1 minute read )
This week, I went to a park.
Now this is something I don’t do very often. However this week I was called to it for a few reasons. One of those reasons was to be out in nature.
Nature has this effect on us that calms, soothes and heals.
It’s almost as if God created nature to reconnect us with our more basic selves. Driving by the beach, feeling the grass underneath our feet, allowing the sun to warm us. It was a rather sublime experience.
We forget this in our digital-lead lives however.
It is all too easy to sit in front of a screen working on something, only to take a break from that by going to a different sized screen. Nature offers us the opportunity to have a sensory reset.
While I was sitting at the park, I noticed ducks, birds, and turtles walking about.
I often can find myself stressing too far into the future. Yet, as I was watching the wildlife going about, I noticed that they found their food and their solace in nature. They are provided for, and yet they do not worry. I stopped worrying then too.
I felt the breeze on my skin, and I could smell the trees and grass around me.
My senses were gently stimulated, and I found myself invigorated from the experience. This improved my energy levels, I felt more stable. It also made me feel happy and calm. It encouraged mindfulness through being present.
All of this lead to me writing this article.
I didn’t know what I would write this week, but after a couple hours in nature I did. I learned that:
Nature heals and soothes
Nature reduced my stress and anxieties
And nature encouraged mindfulness and presence for me
It also gave me something great to write about.
Make it a point to take a break from your normal breaks, and go outside in nature. It is sure to reset you.
